Mt. Salem Revival Grounds
West Union, WV
Founded in 1975 by Dr. Joe Boyd and now under the leadership of Dr. Randy Taylor, Mt. Salem Revival Grounds has been a training ground for preacher boys, as well as a place for churches to bring their young people to summer camp. The atmosphere has always been that of an old-fashioned revival, where the preaching is hot, the invitations are sincere, and the results are lasting.
The camp has grown from the early days of a wilderness camp with services being held in a tent and the camp kitchen being a camp stove and an open fire to the present day with a fully equipped kitchen and dining hall. No longer do campers stay in tents or or farm houses. Today campers are housed in comfortable dormitories. Modern shower houses are situated in three different locations throughout the camp for the convenience of the campers.
Services are held twice a day in the Joe Boyd Tabernacle. The Tabernacle is the focal point of the camp and preaching is the main event of the campers day. It is built from rough cut timers and has an oak floor. The building is unique in that it is the only tabernacle with a balcony. Multitudes have occupied its pews, heard the strong preaching and then made life changing decisions.
For over a forty years Mt. Salem Revival Grounds has been a place of God’s blessings. Come to Mt. Salem and see that “the hand of our God is upon all them for good that seek him.”
Mt. Salem Revival Grounds is a local church ministry of the Mt. Salem Baptist Church, West Union, WV.
